World Agritourism Organization (WAO) and World Agritourism Day Celebration Powered by International Tourist Choice Ltd, was on Thursday 16th May, 2023 Inaugurated by the Presidency, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Federal Republic of Nigeria, in Collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Federal Ministry of Culture, Tourism, Art and Creative Economy, to ensure global Food Security, Job Creation and Investment into the Nigerian Agritourism Village Project.
The Federal Government of Nigeria joined the rest of the global communities on Thursday, 16th May, 2024, to celebrate World Agritourism Day during which His Excellency, BOLA AHMED TINUBU GCFR was duly represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Tourism at the Agricultural Research Institute Mabushi Abuja.
The World Agritourism Organisation is a global concept which combines agricultural activities with tourism.
The Objectives of the Organisation are to increase awareness of sustainable farming practices and Tourism, providing visitors with educational and recreational experiences and attractions of Authentic cultural encounters. These objectives align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ensuring that the dividends of democracy translate into tangible economic growth for all Nigerians.
Agritourism has emerged as a powerful bridge linking agriculture, tourism, and food security, offering a pathway for sustainable economic growth. Across the globe, agritourism is being recognized as a transformative sector, merging agricultural production with tourism development to drive rural and national economic prosperity. Given its vast potential and value chain benefits-especially at the grassroots level-Nigeria must not be left behind in this emerging global movement.
Nigeria is actively leading in the Advocate for the United Nations World Agritourism Organisation ( UNWAO ). Nigeria and, indeed, Africa, possess enormous untapped potential in Agritourism, presenting an opportunity to position the continent as a key player in the global Agritourism sector. Through strategic engagement with the United Nations and the international community, Africa can leverage Agritourism to enhance cross-border investments and drive sustainable development. I urge African nations and the global community to actively support the establishment of a regulatory framework for Agritourism, a move that will strengthen bilateral and multilateral business relationships and significantly increase investment in Agritourism worldwide.

Nigerian Agritourism Village covers all sectors, Housing Estate, Agricultural Hub, Industrial Hub, Transportation, Aviation, Tourism& Hospitality, Travel & Tour, E-commerce arena, Animal/Fish/poultry/Crop farming, Bank arena, Food court, Farm festival &entertainment, Oil & gas, Hotel & Resort apartment etc.
Following Presidential directives, the Nigerian Agritourism Village Project will be established in the six (6) geopolitical zones of the Federation.
Namely:
1. North East Zone Taraba State
2 . North West Zone Kano State
3. North Central Zone-Benue State
4. South East Zone – Imo State
5 South South Zone – Delta State
6. South West Zone Osun State
Our organisation has made significant strides in sourcing Lands for the establishment of the Nigerian Agritourism Village project in some parts of the Country, such as Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Delta, Jigawa and Katsina, which are soon to be accomplished. Groundbreaking ceremony will be involved in all the secured land.
The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation officially unveiled the theme for the 2025 World Agritourism Day Celebration. (“Food Security and Global Peace”) On 2the 7th Day of February 2025 and seized the opportunity to engage world leaders in a meaningful dialogue on combating hunger and fostering peace through sustainable agricultural practices.

The Occasion came to the conclusion as the Award of Legacy street Drive was given to the World Agritourism Organisation Developer
His Excellency.Evang. Prof. C. J Osim, CEO AFF Landport Global Estates Ltd (MEGAWEALTH World) was awarded with Legacy Street Drive in the 6 six Geo Political Zones of the Nigerian Agritourism Village Development for his significant Contribution to Food Security and Agricultural Innovations
