The Niger State governor, his Excellence Governor Umaru Bago has renamed the abandoned Niger State airport to Bola Tinubu international airport. The Minna airport is proposed to serve as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The airport will be commissioned by the President on March 11th, 2024.
His Excellency Umaru Bago of Niger State remodelled the long-dormant Minna Airport the moment he assumed office as the state governor. Minna airport runway and a new terminal were constructed within 90 days.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an Instrumental Landing System (ILS) and Distance Measuring Equipment.
President Bola Tinubu’s airport long-abandoned Hajj Terminal construction is currently going on and is expected to be ready within 3 months. This will revive the Hajj operations after a two-year break.
Niger State government is in collaboration with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to transform the airport into a transportation hub through the construction of cargo and international terminals within 12 months.
Bola Tinubu International Airport, Minna, is poised to become a key component of Governor Umaru Bago’s agricultural revolution initiative in Niger State. Equipped with a functional airport and a state-of-the-art agro-processing zone spanning approximately 2,000 hectares, it will facilitate the production and export of various agricultural products, including vegetables, fruits, dairy, and livestock goods, connecting Niger State’s agricultural sector to global markets seamlessly.
