During the post-Akwaaba (The largest travel market in West Africa) Lagos State tour, I had the chance to experience the Lagos State Blue Line train. We travelled from Marina on Lagos Island to Mile 2, one of the key stops on the Blue Line rail route. The train connects various stations, making commuting across Lagos easy and efficient.
How to Pay for the Lagos Blue Line Train
As a first-time passenger, you’ll need a Cowry payment card or wristband to board the train. It’s essential to ensure your card is loaded with sufficient funds before your journey. The system automatically calculates the fare based on your entry and exit points.
When entering, simply tap your card to unlock the gate, and do the same when exiting at your destination. Each station is equipped with machines where you can check your balance and top up your card if needed, so you’re never caught off guard without enough fare for your trip.
How to Book the Lagos Blue Line Train
Booking a ride on the Lagos Blue Line train is hassle-free. No online reservations or bookings are required. Just walk into the station with your Cowry payment card and you’re set to go. If you don’t already have a card, you can easily purchase one for NGN 600 at the station.
The simplicity of the system makes it convenient for both daily commuters and tourists. You just top up, tap, and travel.
