Abuja light train exceeded carrying capacity as Abuja residents trooped out en masse to enjoy the Abuja light train free ride. Maybe because it was the last day for the free ride, different people from infant to adult where at the Abuja Metro station to enjoy the train ride.
After years of construction, the Abuja light rail was finally commissioned by President Mohammad Buhari. Few days after the commission, the Federal Capital Territory Administration declared free train ride for all.
The free train ride ended on August 10, 2018. The commercial services resumed fully on 13th August 2018. The Federal Capital Territory Administration has already fixed price for the train ride.
The price varies according to destination and age. From the Metro station to and from the Airport is NGN 1,000 for adults while children and physically challenged passengers is NGN 700.
Also, adults will pay NGN 500 from Idu Station to Airport while children and physically challenged passengers will pay NGN 300 same is applicable for passengers from Airport Station to Idu Station.
