The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially received approval from the federal government for the construction of the Lekki-Epe International Airport. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received approval from the Minister for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, during the Lagos Economic Summit (Ehingbeti) 2022 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

- The new airport will be situated along the Lekki-Epe axis on the ‘Island’ section.
- Upon completion, the Lekki-Epe International Airport will complement the Murtala Muhammed international airport, Lagos which has served over five million people.

- It will be constructed on 3,500 hectares of land.
- Master plans and aeronautical designs are in place.
- Studies are ongoing about strategies, funding and other issues, after which the project will be taken to the marketplace.
