Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines are set to resume flight schedules to Nigeria immediately. The flight resumption was part of the agreement between the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to the statement released by the president, the Emirates and Etihad Airways flight resumption does not involve immediate payment by the Nigerian government.
Furthermore, by this historic agreement, Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines are to immediately resume flight schedules into and out of Nigeria without further delay. As negotiated between the two Heads of State, this immediate restoration of flight activity, through these two airlines and between the two countries, does not involve any immediate payment by the Nigerian government.
The Tinubu-led government also discussed the issues concerning the visa ban. According to Chief Ajuri Ngelale Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), the United Arab Emirates government agreed to remove the visa ban placed on Nigerians.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday in Abu Dhabi, have finalized a historic agreement, which has resulted in the immediate cessation of the visa ban placed on Nigerian travellers.
Recall that both Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines suspended flight operations to Nigeria due to the lingering issues between the Nigerian government and the United Arab Emirates authorities.
