The United Arab Emirates airline, Emirates has extended the ban placed on flights from Nigeria and South Africa until 7 August 2021.
Emirates in an official statement cited government directives on covid-19 as the reason for the flights’ suspension. According to the statement, Emirates will operate one daily flight from Dubai to Johannesburg, South Africa. The Johannesburg, South Africa flights to Dubai will remain suspended until 7 August 2021.
On the other hand, Flights to and From Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja) will remain suspended until August 7, 2021, when the airline said they will resume flights operation.
Until August 2021, any passenger that has been to or connected through South Africa and Nigeria will not be allowed to enter the United Arab Emirates. Passengers in this category are expected to spend at least 14 days outside Nigeria and South Africa before they will be allowed to enter the United Arab Emirates.
Emirates’ flights to and from South Africa and Nigeria will remain suspended until 07 August 2021, in line with government directives that restrict the entry of travellers originating from South Africa and Nigeria into the UAE.
Only one daily passenger flight to Johannesburg will operate as EK763; however, outbound passenger services on EK764 remain suspended. Customers who have been to or connected through South Africa or Nigeria in the last 14 days will not be permitted on any Emirates flights bound for Dubai.
Affected flight bookings have been cancelled.
Passengers whose flight tickets were affected are advised to contact the airline if they booked through the airline for a refund or further instruction. Passengers that booked through an agent should contact the travel agent for further instruction.
Recall that Emirates initially fixed July 31, 2021, as the flight resumption date. By this notice, Emirates will now resume on August 7, 2021.
