In an exclusive update for travel enthusiasts, Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, unveiled a long-awaited announcement from Emirates Airlines regarding their return to Nigerian skies.
During a recent visit to the UAE Embassy in Abuja, Minister Keyamo received correspondence from Ambassador Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, confirming Emirates’ definite date for resuming flight operations to Nigeria.
“After a productive meeting with Ambassador Al-Shamsi, Emirates Airlines has provided a concrete timeline for their comeback,” Keyamo shared excitedly. “Stay tuned as the official announcement will be made public by Emirates Airlines in the coming days.”
Emirates Airlines temporarily halted flights to Nigeria in October 2022 due to challenges repatriating funds from the country. Despite a brief suspension in August of the same year, the airline faced obstacles, including $85 million in revenue trapped in Nigeria.
Acknowledging the importance of this development, Minister Keyamo previously hinted at Emirates Airlines’ imminent return during a statement on November 19, 2023. He assured that the federal government is actively collaborating on necessary arrangements for the smooth resumption of operations.
For travelers eagerly anticipating the return of Emirates Airlines, the wait is nearly over as Nigeria prepares to welcome back this esteemed carrier to its skies.
