The Nigeria Railway Corporation has suspended the Abuja to Kaduna train service until further notice after armed bandits attacked the Kaduna to Abuja train on Wednesday night.
According to Senator Shehu Sani, the bandits attack the train between Dutse and Rijana stations. They planted a bomb on the rail track and opened fire against the driver. Due to the damage caused by the explosive device, the morning train on Thursday almost skids off the track.
Yesternight, bandits attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train. They planted an explosive that damaged the rail track and shattered the windshield of the train engine. They also opened fire, targeting the Driver and the Tank. It happened between Dutse and Rijana stations. The Driver struggled to move towards Kaduna Rigasa station. This early morning, I was on board when our train ran over another explosive damaged railing. The train nearly skids off its track, and then we miraculously escaped. All Kaduna Abuja train operations need to be suspended for today until this issue is addressed.
Due to the attack, the Nigeria Railway Corporation has suspended the Abuja – Kaduna train service. In a statement by the corporation on their website, the suspension is for the passengers and staff safety.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, train services have been immediately suspended for the safety of our dear passengers. Efforts are in place to restore service. Further information would follow immediately after service is restored.

Unfortunately, passengers going to Kaduna from Abuja are left with a road trip option since there is no flight from Abuja to Kaduna. All the domestic flights in Nigeria do not operate a flight between Abuja and Kaduna although there is a flight from Kaduna to Lagos.
Aero Contractors that were operating Abuja to Kaduna flight suspended the flight service. There is no reason for the suspension.
