The Eight domestic commercial airlines in Nigeria are recording steady growth in both the number of passenger’s traffic and flight operations.
According to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the eight domestic commercial airlines recorded 5,420 flight operations.
The figures obtained by Punch shows that air peace is leading other domestic airlines with 2,129 flight operations. Air peace is followed by Arik Air that has 1,138 flight operations. According to the figures, Med-View Airlines has the lowest flight operations. The figures showed Med-View has just 87 flight operations.
According to Sagetravels.com findings, the key factors that are influencing the increase in passengers traffic and flight operations is the reduction of flight fare/price. The domestic airlines are constantly reducing flight price in other to remain competitive in the Nigeria travel market. Recently, we reported that Arik Air has reduced flight price to as low as 15,000. Azman Air also reduced to 19,500. Air peace, Dana Air and Max Air are not left out.
Another factor is the improved airport facilities and services. President Muhammadu Buhari has commission about 2 new airport terminals so far. The Abuja and Port Harcourt Airports were commissioned with improved airport facilities.
As at the time of publishing this post, Air Peace has about 10 daily flights from Abuja to Lagos and Lagos to Abuja. This is the highest daily frequency from any domestic Airline in Nigeria. With there operation no state left, Air Peace is currently covering all the states. Air peace was also the first flight to land at the Bayelsa International Airport, Bayelsa.
